Latanya came to Lakehouse after a stroke left her with limited mobility in her hand, poor balance, and affected speech. Unable to safely return home alone, she turned to Lakehouse for rehab, determined to regain her independence and safely move into her own apartment.
When she arrived, Latanya couldn’t stand up from a chair without assistance or grasp objects with her right hand. After 9 months of hard work, perseverance, and an amazing attitude, along with the dedicated support from her OT, PT and Speech team, Latanya is now walking and transferring independently with a 4-wheeled walker, has regained full function in her hand, and her speech has fully recovered!
Excited to move into her brand new apartment and enjoy the rest of summer with friends and family, Latanya expressed gratitude for the care team at Lakehouse, and we are celebrating her incredible progress.
